As Director of Communications for the nonprofit Burning Man, Megan oversees media and public relations for the hub of the growing global phenomenon that is Burning Man. Megan is a member of the organization’s leadership team, which sets priorities for the organization, shapes the perception of Burning Man in the public eye, and guides the growth and impact of Burning Man culture.
Before joining the year-round Burning Man staff in 2012, Megan spent ten years working for environmental protection, HIV/AIDS prevention, political campaigns, and the United States Senate. Born and raised in Juneau, Alaska, Megan earned a Bachelor’s degree in English & Art History from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec and is a 2007 graduate of the Coro Fellowship in Public Affairs. She is also a certified yoga instructor and birth doula in training.

This complex transformation is changing the way we do many things, it is shifting the power dynamics, and requiring that more transparency be shared by our leaders and influencers. What are the steps needed to allow all sides to illicit trust between one another? How can we encourage more collaboration between individuals, public and private sectors and other convening powers to address key challenges and opportunities relevant to our local, national and international communities?
